UROP+ (Supervised UROP)

In the summer the Mathematics Department offers several UROP+ positions, which give MIT undergraduates an opportunity to work on a research project under the guidance of a graduate student mentor. UROP+ students will work full time for the duration of the summer, meeting with their mentors individually for 1 hour twice a week; the schedule can be adjusted to the student’s and the mentor’s schedules.

Due to the COVID-19 situation, the program will be conducted online.

UROP+ appointment is contingent on the acceptance of a UROP proposal by the MIT UROP Office. Only freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are eligible.

UROP+ students will be expected to produce a final 10-page paper, with an emphasis on either research or exposition, by the end of August; it could be individual or joint with the mentor. The paper then might be submitted to and a journal if it contains original results. See papers from previous years.
